MALCON17 Keynote Speakers:

Dave Anderson: Owner, Anderson Leadership Solutions; Author, Becoming a Leader of Character

Dave Anderson and his father, retired General James Anderson, co-authored the groundbreaking book, Becoming a Leader of Character, which details six key habits that make or break a leader, both at work and at home.  Dave is a West Point graduate, decorated combat veteran, and successful business leader.  He has authored more than 400 articles on leadership and personal growth, and hosts a syndicated talk show providing resources for leaders at all levels.  Dave's discussion at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Lean Conference will explore the common elements of leadership with character and integrity with the leader values and behaviors necessary for success on a lean journey. 

CDR Arthur Gibb, III, PhD: Chair, Dept of Leader Development and Research, U.S. Naval Academy

CDR Arthur Gibb, III is a Permanent Military Professor in the Department of Leadership, Ethics, and Law, and the Chair of the Department of Leader Development and Research, at the United States Naval Academy.  CDR Gibb has broad experience of the means by which the Naval Academy develops effective leaders.  He will describe some of the ways that development takes place, along with lessons-learned that any organization can apply in building the adaptiveness, flexibility, and problem-solving skills necessary of lean practitioners.  

Richard (Chip) Davis: President, Sibley Memorial Hospital - Johns Hopkins Medicine

Chip Davis has a diverse background that spans both healthcare and construction, two industries that require mobilizing thousands of people in complex environments to deliver exceptional outcomes.  Chip is one of several healthcare executives bringing Lean Thinking into his healthcare system.  His hospital's Innovation Hub is the home for training on Lean and Six Sigma practices, as well as creative design thinking, which helps the organization build capability for both incremental improvements, as well as more radical innovations.
