The Maryland World Class Consortia holds regular meetings each quarter for members, potential members, supporters, and guests. Each meeting is a half-day "mini-conference" that provide new developments among Consortia members, examples of World Class tools in action, and networking with active practitioners.
Speakers for this meeting:
Davis Balestracci of Harmony Consulting, LLC will share insights and methods for dealing with resistance and change. His discussion, "Those Darn Humans!", is sure to make you laugh, make you think, and, ultimately, give you tools you can use to improve. There are many logical reasons to use lean to improve processes, but we often resist anyway. Who said humans were driven by logic? Our responses to change are driven largely by emotion. Davis will reveal effective ways to deal with anger and resistance, build motivation toward empowerment, and make your lean improvement efforts more efficient and effective - as well as more stress-free and fun. Don't miss this discussion!
Charlie Protzman of Business Improvement Group, LLC will present a discussion on "Conquering the Silent Productivity Killer." We've all heard the term "batch", but you may not have thought about what it really means - and why it happens so frequently in business processes. Charlie will discuss an innate human bias towards batch processing, and how it impacts our ability to create a lean culture. He will discuss why it is, in his words, "The Silent Productivity Killer" and that everyone experiences this bias, including in our personal lives. He will explore the eight root causes of batch thinking, along with the inventory is no longer the real 'root of all evil'. Learn what to do in order to overcome this phenomenon and realize the productivity increases that come from moving steps closer to one-by-one flow.
